Alpaca Joy for White Ash Brook Residents

Residents at White Ash Brook welcomed unique visitors recently in the form of friendly alpacas!

Wood End Alpacas made a heart-warming visit to our home in Accrington, creating an unforgettable experience for the residents by allowing them to interact with these gentle and lovable creatures.

Friends and families joined in too, with smiles all round and residents were talking about the visit for days afterwards; after all, it’s not often they to interact with an exotic animal!

Mackenzie Wild, Activities Coordinator at White Ash Brook, said: "The alpaca visit was so much fun. The smiles on our residents' and team members faces were priceless. It brought so much happiness to our home and we’re already looking forward to the next visit!”

Animal therapy has gained significant recognition in the UK adult care sector for its myriad benefits, and the alpaca visit showcased the positive impact it can have.

Activities such as petting or grooming animals can promote sensory stimulation, improve fine motor skills, and encourage gentle exercise. Sharing experiences with animals also helps to spark conversations, memories, and a sense of community, fostering a supportive and engaging environment.
