Alpacas Bring Joy to all at Highfield Hall

We’re used to welcoming a variety of special guests into our shared home, but a recent visit from some very furry friends left everyone in amazement.

The atmosphere was electric and the smiles and wonder on people’s faces was wonderful to see. For many residents, this was a rare opportunity to interact with animals up close, stirring memories of days gone by and sparking conversations and memories.

Activities such as this hold a significant importance as they are a brilliant way for our residents to engage and connect, fostering a sense of community among residents and our team. Research shows that interactions with animals can have wonderful benefits, from reducing feelings of loneliness to improving overall well-being.

Registered Manager Janet Aspden tells us more:

"We are passionate about providing meaningful and varied activities that create memorable moments. Seeing the looks of joy on everyone's faces when the alpacas walked in was truly heart-warming. It reminds us of how special our shared community is because of the way we live our company values of creating relationships and being positive and light-hearted."

For many residents, especially those living with dementia, animal visits such as these can evoke powerful emotions and memories. The soft touch of an alpaca's fur can prompt memories and offer comfort and joy and our Activities Coordinators Diane and Karen are always looking for ways to entertain and inspire.

The visit also provided an opportunity for families to share the experience with loved ones and illustrates the importance of creating meaningful experiences that bring generations together.

The laughter throughout the visit was true testament to the power of meaningful activities in enhancing the lives of residents and enriching the fabric of community life.

This was a brilliant example of encompassing our values of creating relationships and being positive and light-hearted. Thank you to the Alpaca team for bringing such joy to our shared home. This was truly a moment to treasure.
