Opening the Doors to Our New Cinema and Piano Bar

We’re thrilled to share that New Springfield Care Home in Blackburn now has its very own cinema and piano bar, with plush leather recliners and a popcorn machine. Aptly named “The New Springfield”, the space has been transformed to welcome residents daily for films, socialising and entertainment.

The New Springfield, Cinema and Piano Bar.

The grand opening brought residents from neighbouring Highfield Hall Care Home in Haslingden and White Ash Brook Care Home in Oswaldtwistle together in Blackburn to enjoy classic films with drinks and a delicious buffet.

Resident Eva cut the ribbon, marking the wonderful occasion and our very own stars made their way down the red carpet to explore the exciting new space.

Paul was the first to take a seat as Laurel and Hardy lit up the screen. He smiled and laughed all afternoon. Afterwards, he shared with the team that he used to watch the comedy duo with his parents as a boy and how this afternoon brought all those memories back.

Older films unlock stories, especially for those living with dementia. We’re planning to start a reminiscence group, where we’ll meet regularly to watch older classics and then chat over tea and biscuits about the memories triggered by the films.

Reminiscence therapy and memory work play an invaluable role in improving a sense of personal identity and wellbeing and stimulating communication and sociability.

We're planning on playing more than just films. Another of our neighbouring homes, Brierfield House, recently started to play musical concerts on their big screen which the residents have really enjoyed and we’re excited to bring this initiative to New Springfield.

The space is a reflection of how we live our values here at Each Other Care. We’re there for each other, creating opportunities for residents, the team and visiting friends and families to spend time together. It encourages us to be positive and light-hearted and strengthens relationships, whether that's the team learning about Paul's love of Laurel and Hardy or residents from our neighbouring homes connecting over a film they love.

We’re a now welcoming new residents to New Springfield for nursing, respite, residential and dementia care. The care home, located on Preston New Road in Blackburn, is now family-owned and recently refurbished and we’d love to show you our difference.
