Love Takes Centre Stage at Highfield Hall

At Each Other Care, we know how important maintaining family connections are and supporting our residents to celebrate milestones with their loved ones is a big part of life in our care homes.

Last week, married couple Linda and Peter who live at Highfield Hall in Haslingden celebrated their son’s wedding. They’d been looking forward to it for months and our team were determined to make every moment of the day as meaningful as possible for them both.

In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Linda and Peter chatted over cups of tea about what they'd wear. They love to surprise one another so our team came up with a plan to take them shopping separately to choose their outfits.

On the morning of the wedding, Linda had her hair done beautifully and slipped into her new dress. Peter put on his his brand new jacket, smart tracksuit bottoms and new slippers, because only Peter could look so dapper wearing slippers to a wedding.

He walked into the lounge where Linda was stood proudly waiting for him.

“You look beautiful, Linda. Would you like to marry me again?"

After a fantastic evening celebrating their son's wedding, Linda and Peter settled in for the evening. They popped open a bottle of wine and tucked into a Chinese takeaway. The perfect end to a perfect day.

Linda and Peter's story reminds us that with the right support, we can honour what makes life meaningful for every person in our care.
