Championing the Future of British Care

Our Head of Communications, Rachel Johnson, was proud to take part as a regional judge at the 2025 Great British Care Awards, one of the UK’s most respected events celebrating excellence across the health and social care sector.

Rachel joined the West Midlands and Wales judging panels, interviewing outstanding finalists across two key categories: the Dementia Care Award and the Registered Manager Award. Both categories recognise individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation, raising the bar in delivering person-centred, meaningful care.

The Great British Care Awards form part of a national programme dedicated to recognising the very best in social care, from frontline Carers and Support Workers to Managers, Chefs and Wellbeing Leads. The rigorous judging process brings together sector experts, leaders and advocates from across the UK to ensure every nomination is assessed with fairness, insight and care.

Reflecting on the experience, Rachel said:

“It was a privilege to meet so many passionate individuals who dedicate their lives to improving the wellbeing of others. The stories shared during the interviews were powerful and emotional; full of creativity and purpose. Every finalist had found ways to personalise care, to lift others up, and to create meaningful moments that make a tangible difference.”

For Each Other Care, Rachel’s role as a judge aligns perfectly with our company’s purpose to care for people in a way that contributes to a meaningful life. As a family-owned, values-led care group, Each Other Care is dedicated to delivering quality care, whilst contributing to the growth, recognition and being a champion of best practice in the wider care sector.

Rachel continued:

“Being involved in the judging process is about listening, learning and celebrating the values that unite us as a care community. Each story was a reminder of the importance of leadership and connection in creating positive cultures where both residents and colleagues can thrive.”

The Dementia Care Award celebrates excellence in supporting people to live well with dementia, recognising approaches that promote dignity, individuality and inclusion. The Registered Manager Award honours leaders who build strong, positive teams and ensure consistent, high-quality care through inspiration and example.

Each Other Care actively supports national initiatives like the Great British Care Awards because they shine a light on the people and values that make social care such a special place to work.

“As a group, we believe in sharing best practice and learning from others,” Rachel added. “It’s how we continue to innovate, evolve and deliver quality, impactful care.”

Through its involvement, Each Other Care continues to champion sector-wide collaboration, helping to build a stronger, more connected future for care and one where meaningful experiences and authentic relationships remain at the heart of everything.
