White Ash Brook Launches Weekly Preschool Visits

We've teamed up with Stanhill Preschool to welcome their little ones to White Ash Brook Care Home in Oswaldtwistle every week.

The children make the walk down the hill to spend time with our residents. They bake together and enjoy creative activities and games. The children love exploring the home and saying hello to all of our residents.

This week, they decorated biscuits with the residents to take back to nursery. Jackie, who lives with dementia, lights up around children. She is so excited at the prospect of seeing them each week.

“They’re just gorgeous.”

Louise, our Wellbeing Lead, said: "After they've gone, the residents are still chatting about it. It gives them something to talk about and look forward to."

Research shows that intergenerational connection can reduce loneliness and bring a sense of purpose for older people. For the children, it's a chance to build confidence and learn from a different generation.

We're looking forward to welcoming them back next week.
