Lights, Camera, Action at the Oscars

The Abbeys Care Home displayed their incredible community spirit by hosting an Oscars-style awards evening for their valued team members this month. The event was an inspiring night filled with laughter, tears of joy and heartfelt recognition.

Guests were treated to a red carpet welcome, photos, drinks and canapes. No expense was spared to ensure team members, residents and loved ones were thanked for their efforts in being a supportive care community. It was a special way to showcase the commitment to growing connections and helping everyone to live a full and meaningful life.

Residents were given front row seats and the atmosphere in the room was amazing. It was brilliant to be able to celebrate those who contribute to making the shared home such a special place to be.

Registered Manager J’amie Morgan tells us more:

“We organised the Oscars to showcase the values that define our community here. We are a home where being positive, authentic, light-hearted, and there for each other isn't just a philosophy but our way of life. This was our way of saying thank you to everyone for being one big family.”

Hosted by the charismatic entertainer Paul Barrie, the evening was filled with live music and comedy between the speeches.

Our Values in Action

A particular highlight was the moving performance from resident Stephen. His rendition of Elvis brought everyone to tears. This exceptional moment was an excellent example of the Each Other Care values and a celebration of the remarkable individuals who live in the shared home.

Activities Coordinator Erica was delighted with how the evening went.

“I was honoured to read out the awards and share why these team members received their votes. There is a very special bond here and it was a pleasure to be part of it. Thank you to everyone for their support in helping me to arrange the evening.”

Congratulations to J'amie, Erica and the entire team for organising an event that not only celebrated outstanding achievements but also echoes the true essence of The Abbeys – where everyone is an integral part of the community.
